How close is Vick to Super Bowl title?
They are the only active starting quarterbacks who have won Super Bowls: Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers.
Together, the six have won a combined 10 championships.
According to
NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah, the Eagles’ Michael Vick might be next in line to join the esteemed group.
Of the starting QBs who haven’t won a title, Jeremiah ranked the seven signal callers he thinks are closest to winning their first Super Bowl.
Vick came in at No. 3.
“Vick was very inconsistent during the 2011 season and the Eagles fell one game short of making the playoffs,” Jeremiah wrote. “During the first half of the season, Vick really struggled to avoid costly turnovers.
“On a positive note, his play did drastically improve down the stretch
and he helped lead the Eagles to blowout victories in each of their last
four games…If Vick plays like he did at the end of the season, this roster is plenty talented enough to make a push toward the Super Bowl this season.”
The complete list looks like this:
1. Matt Schaub, Houston Texans
2. Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers
3. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles
4. Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens
5. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals
6. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
7. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
