Nnamdi talks D, contracts; teases WRs

Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha appeared on Pro Football Talk Live Wednesday afternoon and touched on numerous subjects with host Mike Florio.

Among the topics discussed was the nature of an Eagles team that seems to be coming together. Asomugha talked about the players becoming more familiar, especially since last season was a whirlwind because of the lockout.

"Just being able to get to know each other better, the comfort level raises for everyone, whether they are current players or newer players," Asomugha said. "Everyone just becomes more comfortable."

Florio also brought up that the Eagles have spent much of this off-season locking up current players, as opposed to the influx of new talent last year. Florio asked if the signing of new players may have caused problems within the team last season.

"I don't think there was any sort of resentment towards [the organization] bringing in new guys. It was just 'while [the Eagles] were doing that, can they take care of me?'" Asomugha said.

Later Asomugha answered if any one receiver in the league requires more preparation or makes him anxious about the game.

"Well, right now, specifically for last year, it was more about learning my new techniques. ... I guess if you were to stand there and play man [coverage] against a guy, that's a different story. If that was the case, there aren't any guys that stand out in my mind," Asomugha said before joking about the difficulty of playing wide receiver.

"There are a handful of guys that are really good at what they're doing from the receiver position, which is the easiest position in the NFL," he said laughing. "There are a handful of guys that are good at it, so not one particular guy that would concern me."

Asomugha later spoke of the rivalry between corners and wide receivers. The Pro Bowl cornerback even gave a sample of what he might say to a receiver teammate:

"All you [receivers] have to do is go out there and catch a ball, you know where you're going, we have no idea, but we have to be perfect at it.

"Every position is difficult, but receiver ... my goodness."
