Report: Flyers not on Schultz's short list
The Flyers may not be finished improving their defense, but it looks like free agent blueliner Justin Schultz won’t be in their future plans.
Earlier this week, sources confirmed to CSNPhilly.com that the Flyers were, indeed, interested in Schultz
(see story). It's easy to see why. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenseman could help fill out a Flyers defense expected to once again be without Chris Pronger next season.
But according to a report by
TSN (via
ProHockeyTalk), the Flyers were not on Schultz’s short list of five teams he’d like to play for. If they're hoping to add more new faces to their defense (they traded James van Riemsdyk for D-man Luke Schenn last weekend), the Flyers will have to look elsewhere.
Instead of Philadelphia, it’s looking as though the highly touted 21-year-old Schultz will end up with either the Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers or Ottawa Senators.
