Howard to continue rehab at Lehigh Valley
Ryan Howard continued his rehab on Saturday with another impressive performance.
The Phillies' slugger was at Lakewood (A) on Saturday and went 2-for-2 with a double, a RBI and three walks. Lakewood won, 12-9.
Howard will now continue his rehab assignment on Sunday at Lehigh Valley
with the Triple-A IronPigs. Howard, who was a designated hitter with
the BlueClaws on Saturday, will play first base with Lehigh Valley.
The
IronPigs have a Sunday double-header against the Pawtucket Red Sox on
Sunday. Howard will play in the second game.
Howard's double on Saturday came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Howard's 2-for-2 performance on Saturday came after he went 3 for 6 with three RBIs in two games with the BlueClaws.
Howard is, of course, on the rehab trail after rupturing his Achilles in the final at-bat of the 2011 postseason. His first competitive game was Thursday with the BlueClaws.
