Duffy, Bonilla earn monthly honors in minors
The Phillies announced their minor league players of the month for June on Tuesday.
First baseman Chris Duffy was named the organization’s best minor leaguer in June. Playing for the class-A Lakewood Blue Claws, he batted .420 last month and is hitting .449 during his current 18-game hitting streak.
Duffy, a 24-year-old who was the Phillies’ 26th round draft pick in 2010 out of Central Florida, has hit .393 with an on-base percentage of .472 in 35 games for Lakewood this season.
Lisalverto Bonilla of the double-A Reading Phillies earned the system's pitcher of the month honors.
Bonilla stuck out 24 batters in 18.2 innings pitched in June and held opposing hitters to a batting average of .133. The 22-year-old righthander has a 1.80 ERA in 30 innings for Reading this season. He was signed in 2009 as a free agent out of Samana, Dominican Republic.
