NFC East Notes: Tons of LBs for Redskins
As we inch closer to training camp at Lehigh, the rest of the teams in the NFC East are preparing for training camp too.
CSNWashington's Rich Tandler has been breaking down a 53-man roster (here's an early 53-man
Eagles projection) by position and today, looks at the Redskins' linebackers.
The Redskins have 14 linebackers on the Roster and Tandler says they'll keep 10. Yeah, it seems like a lot of linebackers, but remember, the Redskins use a 3-4 defense.
Tandler says Brian Orakpo, Ryan Kerrigan, Rob Jackson, Markus White, Chris Wilson, London Fletcher, Perry Riley, Lorenzo Alexander, Keenan Robinson and Jonathan Goff will make the roster.
He says Donnell Holt, Bryan Kehl, Brian McNally and Monte Lewis will be left out.
Tandler likes the starters, Orakpo, Kerrigan, Fletcher and Riley. He says it wouldn't be surprising if any of them make the Pro Bowl.
A busy off-seasonThe
Newark Star-Ledger continues their summer series of questionnaires, this time with linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka.
He got a contract extension, had his first child and got married.
Here's a bit from the exchange with Mike Garafolo:
MG: How different do you feel at linebacker right now?
MK: It’s a big difference. I started to get more comfortable at the end of last year. But having the ability to go from one off-season to the next playing the same position, it means a lot. It’s getting there. I don’t think I’ll ever be content with how I’m playing, but I’m still working on it and I feel 10 times more comfortable playing there.
MG: What’s more stressful: the wedding or playing in a Super Bowl?
MK: As the wedding’s getting closer, I’m going to have to go with the wedding. I’ve been playing football for a long time; I’ve never been married before. I know what to expect on one side.
