According to the Albany Times-Union, Eagles backup running back Dion Lewis was arrested early Saturday morning.

Lewis and his brother, Lamar, were locked out of their hotel. The incident happened around 4 a.m., when the men tried to get back into the hotel but the doors were locked. The general manager of the hotel said the doors are locked after midnight.

They banged on the glass doors and pulled the fire alarm. Officer Steve Smith said Lewis was a guest at the hotel and both men were intoxicated.

The men were charged with falsely reporting a fire (a felony) and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. The 21-year-old Lewis was released after his arraignment and his 35-year-old brother was being held at Albany County jail without bail.

"I want to apologize to my family, the Albany community, the Eagles organization and fans, and to the NFL for my involvement in an incident this past weekend," Lewis said in a statement released by the team. "It was never my intention to cause any public alarm or damage any property. I am sorry for any embarrassment and inconvenience that my actions have caused. I am committed to continuing to conduct myself in conformance with the high moral, ethical and professional standards that I have my entire life and of which so many others rightly expect of me. Because the matter is still in the hands of the court system, I cannot comment any further."

Lewis is likely the backup running back to All-Pro LeSean McCoy. The 5-foot-8 running back had 102 rushing yards on 23 carries as a rookie.

But with the departure of free agent Ronnie Brown, Lewis said he's ready to become the No. 2 back.

The Eagles drafted Lewis in the fifth round of the 2011 draft out of Pittsburgh.
