Would DeJuan Blair be a good fit for the Sixers?

With Elton Brand gone courtesy of the amnesty clause, the Sixers could use some help at power forward.

A viable candidate might be San Antonio Spurs forward DeJuan Blair.

According to Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News  (via Hoops Rumors), the three-year pro is prepared to not be a Spur next season, mainly because of his inconsistent playing time toward the end of the season.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports Blair is open to being traded.

According to Hoops Rumors, Slovenian center Erazem Lorbek is looking to join San Antonio next year and Boris Diaw wants to re-sign as well.

If both transactions take place, there may not be room for Blair in the Spurs' frontcourt.

Blair, who averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds a game in 2012, could be an intriguing option for the Sixers because of how similar — and different— the former second-round pick is to Brand.

Size-wise, Blair is more than capable of handling power forward duties. At 6-foot-7, 265 pounds, he has a similar frame to the 6-foot-8, 275-pound Brand.

Yet, at 23, Blair, despite concerns about his knees coming out of Pitt, has fresher legs and is much less injury prone than the 33-year-old Brand. Blair has missed only three games in his career.

And financially, the move would make sense too. Amnestying Brand freed up cap space for the Sixers, and Blair is set to be paid only $1.05 million in 2012, making him an extremely affordable asset.

Philly residents should be somewhat familiar with Blair. He faced Villanova several times as a standout at Pittsburgh from 2007-2009.
