Free agent Shane Doan visits Philly
Shane Doan is exploring his free agency -- in Philadelphia.
Doan's agent, Terry Bross, confirmed to CSNPhilly's Lisa Hillary that Doan visited Philadelphia Saturday morning.
John Gambadoro of sports radio 620 KTAR in Phoenix tweeted overnight that the Coyote captain and unrestricted free agent visited with Rangers on Friday and was preparing for his next meeting in Philadelphia Saturday.
The Flyers originally targeted Ryan Suter and Zack Parise in free agency, but have since moved onto Shea Weber, signing him to a 14-year, $110 million offer sheet.
A 35-year-old forward, Doan has spent his entire career with the Coyotes franchise and has attempted to peg his future to that of the team's in Phoenix. But the franchise still hasn't sold and Doan remains on the market, so he has begun surveying other options.
Still, as
ProHockeyTalk points out, in the event the Predators do not match the Flyers' offer for Weber and he indeed becomes a Flyer, it is highly unlikely the front office will have money left to ink Doan.
