Training camp injury update: DeSean dinged
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Quick injury update after Friday's practice:
DeSean Jackson injured his left ankle during 7-on-7 drills. On an incomplete pass, Jackson was tangled up with safeties Kurt Coleman and Jaiquawn Jarrett and stayed down briefly before hobbling off the field.
Jackson had the ankle taped and returned to practice. He blocked on consecutive plays and shortly thereafter had the tape removed.
Guard Danny Watkins also briefly left practice with what appeared to be a right ankle injury (he had it taped) but returned. His reason for leaving practice was not disclosed.
Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox was excused from practice for personal reasons. Cullen Jenkins (hamstring) returned to practice.
The following players did not practice: Defensive ends Jason Babin (calf) and Trent Cole (shoulder), defensive tackle Mike Patterson (post surgery), linebacker Jamar Chaney (hamstring), safeties Nate Allen (hamstring), O.J. Atogwe (groin) and Colt Anderson (knee), offensive linemen Todd Herremans (shoulder) and Evan Mathis (illness), and wide receiver Jamel Hamler (hamstring).
The Eagles worked out Ayanga Okpokowuruk (and you thought Asomugha was tough to spell), a defensive end out of Duke who in 2010 signed with the Giants as an undrafted rookie. He was released last season and signed with the Browns but has yet to play in a regular season game.
