MILWAUKEE – Freddy Galvis’ 50-game suspension will end Thursday night. He will be reinstated Friday and go on the disabled list.
The rookie infielder was suspended by Major League Baseball for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance in June. He was on the DL at the time with a fracture in his spine.
Galvis is in Clearwater doing light workouts and receiving treatment for his injury. His recovery from the injury will prevent him from doing any serious baseball activity until the first week of September, at the earliest.
The Phillies are not expecting Galvis back this season. He will likely play winter ball in his native Venezuela.
