Eagles inactives: Watkins returns, Scott to start
LANDOVER, Md. -- Eagles right guard Danny Watkins is active for today's game against the Redskins after missing the last three games with a severe ankle injury but will not start. Instead recently signed veteran Jake Scott will start at right guard.
The Eagles signed Scott, who has yet to play this season, last Monday. He has started 121 career games in eight NFL seasons.
Watkins practiced all week but had been listed as questionable. Rookie Dennis Kelly will shift over and make his first start at right tackle, his natural position coming out of college. Kelly struggled the last three games in Watkins' place.
King Dunlap will start at left tackle and look to atone for his dismal game against Dallas.
Kelly, Scott and QB Nick Foles are all making their first start as Eagles at their respective positions.
Inactive for the Eagles are Michael Vick (concussion), Jason Avant (hamstring), Chris Polk (toe), Mardy Gilyard (hamstring), Vinny Curry, Phillip Hunt and Nate Menkin.
For the Redskins, both wide receiver Pierre Garcon (foot) and safety Brandon Meriweather (knee) are active after being listed as questionable. Garcon, who has a torn ligament in a toe on his right foot, has missed six games this season because of the injury, including the last four.
The Redskins' inactives: quarterback Rex Grossman, receiver Dezmon Briscoe, cornerback Richard Crawford, linebacker Mario Addison, guard Adam Gettis, offensive lineman Maurice Hurt and defensive end Doug Worthington.
